We were at the National Gallery today for the ‘After Impressionism - Inventing Modern Art’ exhibition (which was well worth seeing). The Nabis were a group of young French artists active in Paris from 1888 until 1900, who played a large part in the transition from impressionism and academic art to abstract art, symbolism and the other early movements of modernism. In a way they were purveyors of new ideas. So when I looked at this shot tonight it sort of reminded me of the word ‘purvey’ for which an image has been elusive so far this month.
