I learned so much at our Lindt Museum just outside Zurich - they literally take you on a journey you from cocoa bean to chocolate bar, with plenty of tasting along the way. It was pure chocolate heaven. Not to be missed by chocoholics in our midst.
Fabulous close up, unfortunately I do not belong to the species who like chocolate. I only eat the Lindt white chocolate with almonds (that's not really chocolate)
So interesting I am sure. I am not a big fan of chocolate but have Lindt dark chocolate and chilli in my fridge. It will last a long time as I forget it’s there
@monikozi - the photo doesn’t really reflect the size - I read that fully grown cacao pods vary in shape, colour, and size, and can range from 5-12 inches in length. A ripe fruit may contain 20 to 75 cocoa beans, each . 5-1.5 inches long and encased in a white pulp.
It always pays to read the comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the museum. It would be quite interesting to learn how chocolate is made beginning with the tree and ending with the taste. I'm glad to know there are others who don't care much for chocolate. Like Diana, @ludwigsdiana, the only chocolate I eat is white chocolate. I didn't realize chocolate beans are seeds. (not a horticulturalist, can you tell?)
Chocolate??? Yes m'am!
