My camera is a Canon "Point and Shoot". It's a great size and it can do lots of good stuff but sometimes it needs to be tricked into doing what I am trying to do. It is not really very good at Bokeh - so this was a bit of a challenge. The pink coral is sitting on a metallic scourer. Sneaky lighting and lots of trial focus points finally did the trick. A -1 exposure bias which I corrected for later allowed the bokeh spots to show up quite well - at least for my little camera!
I wanted to have a go at producing bokeh using my camera (rather than my editing program) for the Creative Bokeh Challenge: https://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/30849/new-year-new-technique-challenge
I realize it's a very basic composition with blurry bokeh but for me it feels a bit like a success. :)
@louisanoffke Hi Sapphire - thanks for your positive feedback! I realized after I read you comment that I hadn't actually said why I was so determined to do this. It was for one of the challenges (I've now added it to the blurb above) but basically it was because I'm stubborn!! LOL
@olivetreeann Hi Ann -thanks for your encouragement. I keep persevering with it because it fits in my pocket! And it does most things that I want it to do - and I'm getting better at tricking it!! And I'm stubborn! :)
@granagringa Thanks Madeline - I think next time I might have a go with one of those bigger metal scourers - it might give different shapes? Or have a go with the your crushed alfoil - that would be a bigger surface too. Thanks for the tip!
