The plateau above the creek.. by robz

The plateau above the creek..

At the end of the forest walk you can climb up onto the plateau where the creek enters the area. It is a fabulous spot with eroded gullies, multiple water pools and long white rock intrusions. We expected it to be dry and burnt out - instead it had water in the pools and the creek, green grass peeping up and roos watching us. It was magical - especially with a camera to catch the reflections in the ponds.... :)
love this composition :)

Beautiful the way the light falls on the rock. Sounds like a very nice hike. With the frame, I thought you would have the framingjuly19 tag.

So many contrasts!

Love that little pool! Thought there was a snake there in the middle until I realised it was just the pattern in the rocks!!!

It looks other worldly! Amazing landscape.

When you say "Roos were watching, are you talking kangaroos? That would be so wild, to see them standing around, enjoying the view too!

Magical for sure. I like the composition, the light, the textures, the reflections. For me the frame takes away from the image but I know many like them

@jgpittenger Hi Jane - I think you would just love this area - it has all of those things you mentioned and on that day it was windless so the reflections were magic. Mona had just started a technique challenge with the theme as "reflections'' and had kindly put up some hints about a good POV to use. I haven't put any frames on the reflection images but with this one the sky just seemed to disappear and the sense of perspective was lost - hence the frame. It's a very difficult area to convey successfully in a single image and a pano just seems to lose all of the interesting details. I'm sure it needs a better camera and a more experienced photographer..any sneaky hints, ideas, techniques, suggestions would be gratefully received! :) CHeers Rob

looks like a really interesting place for exploring.

Makes sense why you added the frame. An other option might be cropping out some of the sky. I really like how the eye is drawn from bottom left up to top right and the white behind the trees helps with that. I would love to explore this place and photograyand talk with you!

@jgpittenger Yes I think you may be right about the cropping. I'll have a go with a similar image and see how it goes. And you are more than welcome to visit and explore at any time - we are here mostly but even when we aren't you would be still welcome to use the house. It would be very nice to actually meet. :)

@lyndemc Hi Denise - I's so sorry to have been so long in answering you. You are right in that kangaroos are nearly always just called "roos" over here. The area where this was taken is in a National Park and hence it does have a lot of roos and they do tend to be quite relaxed around people as they are safe in their environment. And they are quite inquisitive! Cheers Rob :)
