I tried out my new lens today but I'm not really sure what I'm doing with it. Anyway, I took some photos of the goldfinches and other birds. They are on the thistle seed feeder which seems to be their favourite. I took a load of photos but was not terribly impressed with any of them but anyway, I think I might have to invest in a tripod. It was pretty cold outside and as usual the birds don't want to play ball when they see the black thing pointed at them despite the fact that I try to stay quietly under a tree. Any tips would be useful
My favorite little garden chaps. Once around they will just keep coming back. . I would recommend any tripod(large or small) and a wireless remote control. Once you have the feeder in focus you can get the shot watching through the window (in the warmth)! Bit of preparation in the set up but then easy!
A charm!! You've got a very small f number here so maybe if you go a bit bigger it will help as it won't be so critical exactly where the birds are - you could focus on the feeder and still have the birds in focus and there's plenty of leeway on the shutter speed here before you get motion blur (mind you I've only had about 5 lessons so I could be wrong!)
