Is this a redpoll? by rosiekind

Is this a redpoll?

I heard a strange sound when I walked along Wood Lane this afternoon and eventually I managed to spot the bird that was making it. This looks like a redpoll (maybe a young one?) but I didn't think they were in Britain at this time of the year. I shall have to read about them in my bird book. It was the reddish cap and breast that made me think it was. Please let me know if you think it's not because I would like to know what it is.
It really looks like a redpoll :).

Redpolls have stripes on their breasts and sides.

I think maybe a male linnet from the RSPB site. They have an audio as well so that may be the decider! Very pretty anyway - never seen one!

You do capture some beautiful birds Rosie. No I don't think the apricots are early. They are usually ripe for picking about the same time as our anniversary which is on Friday.
