I call this lovely horse Beauty and talk to her as I go up Wood Lane and then have another chat with her when I come back down. She is the lovely horse that I was so concerned about when we had the flooding over Christmas as she was standing in a completely flooded field poring at the ground. I called the RSPCA about her on Christmas Day but fortunately after speaking to various people I found out who she belonged to and got them to move her. I feel so sorry for this poor horse as she is lovely but very lonely and forlorn. If only they would get a little friend for her - maybe even a goat would help which is why I always talk to her. She was further down the field today nearer the fence and she knew I was there to give her some company. Other people have been worried about her because at one time she was really skinny and you could see her ribs. They too reported the owners to the RSPCA and it seems that she is being fed better. I don't know why people have animals if they don't bother to look after them properly.
Bas our cockatoo is frightened of the fireworks so I have had to cuddle him to reassure him. He's OK now though because they have stopped and he has gone to bed. I just hope they don't start up later tonight when we have gone out. Last night when we were watching TV, there was a wildlife program on and a falcon looked as though it was going to fly out of the TV screen and Bas was sitting on my knee. He was really scared and did a whoopsie on the cushion (which he never does) and flew towards the TV before crash landing on the floor down the side of the chair. It's funny how he recognised that the bird was not one to be tangled up with and recognised the fact that it is a bird of prey!
Now that I've read your comments I must agree with you about pets -- the woman next door to me has a golden retriever which she never walks. His world is the house and the back yard -- yet she claims she's an animal lover. I do not understand it it. I hope poor beauty finds a companion.
A lovely photo, love the lighting. Such a shame about the horse, it's not right, it needs better owners! And poor Bas, fireworks and a scary tv bird :(
A lovely portrait -- but quite a sad story as you say --my heart yells why !! Why do people keep animals without an ounce of understanding or thought for the animal's welfare -- so cruel to keep him day in ,day out without any company !! FAV
A lovely close-up and gorgeous lighting. Funny story about Bas. Our dog Betty likes to watch the animal programmes on TV and especially when there are dogs on. She also rushed up to the screen one day when there was a poor baby elephant about to die, she made whining noises as if she was sad!
