Magpie by rosiekind

Magpie

As I was leaving I saw this magpie so couldn't resist a shot. I had my 300 mm lens and my spare camera with me rather than my favourite because I still feel vulnerable when I go walking around the country park. I miss the speed of my 400 mm lens but I would rather sacrifice that than have it stolen from our of my hands! Fortunately, I didn't see any dodgy characters today.

Super shot. Fav! I tried a magpie shot today but was rather a long way away. Not easy birds to capture.

He looks much nicer than our raggedy magpies - quite exotic really!

Great shot Rosie - magpies are hard to photograph for some reason. From your narrative do I understand that you have had a camera stolen from you? How scary!! I do worry sometimes walking round alone with my camera and large lenses which attract attention. Mind you country parks usually seem ok to me as they are not the normal place you would find nasty people. Is that me just being naive?

MUMMY - Of course this isn't but as I'm known as Lady Magpie it just has to be a FAV from me.
