Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
Sensible dog, not to mention gorgeous. How's the water supply in your part of the world, I read in the paper this morning that Cape Town's just about out of water altogether.
@golftragic Marnie, we have water restrictions but not in as dire a situation as Cape Town. Our village has it's own dam which gets it's water from the surrounding mountains. With the decrease in the rainfall everyone is feeling the pinch. Sadly at the moment there is a lot of 'blame game' going on regarding Cape Town's water - lots of red tape stuff. Sadly it's the man on the street that suffers. Currently the talk is that by April Cape Town taps will be dry. It's very scary and the potential for water theft from nearby towns that have water supply will be a major problem.
@salza Oh gosh, that's all very serious Sally. The article I read did mention some of the blame game stuff, along with a photo of a sandy wasteland that's part of a reservoir. As usual it's the little people who suffer, as you say. Incredible to think that Cape Town, a major city by any measure, will run out of water in April. You're quite right about the 'water theft' threat, and the social situation could get pretty nasty too. We had a very serious drought here a few years back and had very strict restrictions on water-usage. The Victorian (our state) government then started in on planning (!!) a desalination plant but also tried to build a pipeline to steal water for Melbourne from inland water catchments. Same old, same old.
You know it's hot when the tongues are hanging out. Just reading the comments about your water situation- that is so serious and hard to believe a major city could possibly run out of water. So drastic. I do hope the situation gets alleviated somehow but not at the expense of towns like yours. Nice shot.
