The weather had its effect on many decisions. I took a bus from Christchurch to Tekapo missing some high country. I arranged a bike to cycle the Ohau Canal and hopped on a shuttle to Ohau Lodge. Here I met up with many hikers heading in the same direction and trying to miss the weather bomb. A beautiful spot to stay but 4km to get to the trail head the next day.
