THE OLD CITY – STRASBOURG

Shot taken on 30th June – the 5th day of our vacation to the Black Forest. Best viewed enlarged, if you have time - thank you.
This is the Grande Ile - an island in the Ill River – and the historic centre of Strasbourg - captured from the Barrage Vauban. This Barrage (or dam) is a triumph of 17th-century engineering; it bears the architectural imprint of the leading French military engineer of the age – Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban. This famous military engineer spent some years in Malta helping the Order of St John with their continuous upgrading of Malta’s fortifications.

Strasbourg was our destination on the fifth day of our vacation.

These are two versions of a merge of 3 shots. The top picture is the original, the bottom is how it shows after some processing. I couldn’t decide which to post so you get them both.

Joke: Three blondes are trapped on an island. They find a genie's lamp and agree they will each get a wish.

The first blonde wishes she was 25% smarter, then she swims off the island.

The second blonde wishes she was 50% smarter, then she cut down a tree, made a boat, and rowed off the island.

The third blonde wished she was 100% smarter, then she walked across the bridge.
Thank you very much for looking and for your wonderful comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.
I'll fav all your photos even before I've read the description because they are so good!

I do like the original -- the sky gets a bit wonky in the processed one.

Beautiful shot. The Black Forest is one of my favorite place, although I usually associate it with Germany, instead of France. We ate a 7 course dinner in Strasbourg once. So delicious!
