Having watched the fireworks from the Sliema seafront Christine and I got to the car to drive home. On the way I decided to take a different route so we could see the festa decorations. I parked near a LIDL outlet and while Christine preferred staying in the car (it was almost midnight) I walked to the church area, camera in hand. In this quiet village at night, people were still out there, some eating or drinking on portable tables brought out onto the street by the Band Club restaurant – no wonder some Maltese are obese: you find them all the time eating. When I had a good look around I found out that all those people were waiting for the ground fireworks to begin. I would have stayed for some shots but Christine didn’t want to.
This is the scene as I saw it. The church is lit in the background – it was still open at midnight.
Joke: Husband and wife decided to take their nine children to see the San Gwann festa. While waiting for the bus a blind man joined them. Within a few minutes
the bus arrived, they find it overloaded and only the wife and the nine kids were able to squeeze onto the bus.
So the husband and the blind man, who also was on his was to the festa decided to walk. After a while, the husband gets irritated by the ticking of the stick of the blind man.
As he tapped it on the sidewalk, and the husband said,
'Why don't you put a piece of rubber at the end of your stick? That ticking sound is driving me crazy.'
The blind man replied, 'If you had put a rubber at the end of YOUR stick, we'd be riding the bus, so shut the hell up.' !!!!!
