This is the titular statue of the parish of Marsaxlokk to whom we ‘presnted’ Jean Pierre who we fondly call JP. The light in the church was dim and there were reflections on the glass but I managed to avoid most of them.
Max wanted to light a candle (electric bulb, in fact) before the Madonna.
The ritual to present the baby to the saint of one’s choice is very simple and takes only around ten minutes. It goes like this:
1. The parents with their baby ask a priest of the parish to do the presentation for them.
2. Together they go with the baby in front of the saint’s statue and say an appropriate prayer.
3. The priest blesses the baby.
4. The event is logged in in the parishes record book.
Thinking about it, this may follow the event when The Baby Jesus was presented in the Temple - but I could be wrong.
Many thanks for looking and for the wonderful comments, the fav's on yesterday's picture and for pushing it to pp and tp. Very much appreciated.
Great shot of this wonderful MARSAXLOKK.
