We have a little stream runs down the edge of our garden and in 2009 replaced the old bridge which had got rather the worse for wear. Last week I gave all the woodwork a coat of 'paint' and today when the sun came out (hurray) managed to paint the gate too. I daresay a professional wouldn't be too impressed but I know it is all looking tidier and more cared for than it was for a wee while ago ! Don't have to worry too much as it leads to a lovely leafy lane and fields beyond so no 'straight edges' to compare it to! It was lovely doing the painting.......silence apart from the sounds of the water and some birds! One of these 'thin places' where you can think about things and people and just enjoy what you are doing!
I'm sure you've done a very professional job! It looks a peaceful spot. I, too, love doing practical jobs like this in the garden - there's a kind of meditative aspect to them (as long as the job isn't too strenuous!).
I remember when you did your beech tree project last year I used to see this bridge in the distance & think how pretty it looked ! Looking very smart now !!
It looks delightful!! And what wonderful things to hear as you work on it- a babbling brook and the birds. You did a great job! And this is a very nice picture- the gate is inviting us to come take a walk!
thank you all! I smile every time I wander past it/look in that direction so that is satisfying indeed!
