Today we met with family and friends for the funeral of Allan's dad, our lovely Grandad Bremner.
He was in his 93rd year. Until quite recently he was able to enjoy all the goings on of the family and particularly loved visits from the great grandchildren who lived close enough to get to Glasgow easily.
Grandad and Grannie had been married for over 60 years and we feel very privileged to have had them around for so long! Now Grannie faces the difficult journey of the days ahead on her own, but she has some wonderful friends at the church where they belonged for many many years, and we all appreciate their kindness and care as we live too far away to 'pop in' ..............
Our daughter Laura, currently in Melbourne, has felt very far away this week. When we arrived back at the house, after the reception for friends and family, there was a lovely delivery of flowers for Grannie from her. They are beautiful and were very much appreciated!
I took this photo so Laura would see how lovely they were and some of the great grandchildren are in the pictures at the front. Laura's graduation photo is just behind on the left...........hidden by the lily leaf!!!
Three good things
1. A beautiful day - gently warm and sunny - makes all the difference to times when we have sadness to cope with.
2. A lovely family friend took the service at the church, with Grandad's favourite psalms, superb singing (unaccompanied, which is the tradition in their church....so all the harmonies were lovely), and precious memories shared by the pastor and one of the grandsons on behalf of all his cousins!
3. A beautiful surprise delivery for Grannie when we got back.
Here is a photo I shared earlier - taken 3 years ago when we went out for lunch with Grannie and Grandad to celebrate his 90th Birthday.
