So....when I reached Mum's last night I was really happy to see that the Hydrangea (Paniculata.......one of my FB connections told me) was in its element! I bought it for Mum and Dad about 15 years ago but it was in the wrong place and surrounded by lots of shrubs. I moved it 3 years ago and planted a buddleia (which had self-seeded under the sitting room window) beside it. Now they are both happy together and the rich colours of the Copper Beech are a lovely background.
It has been POURING rain all morning. Popped down to the shops wearing Mum's coat and with Dad's umbrella!!!!
Three good things
1. Helping Mum with her crossword puzzle in the newspaper.
2. Tomato soup (Heinz) for lunch.
3. Local bread and cakes from Harry Gow's shop. 'Best baker in Scotland' award recently!
Pouring here too! Lovely to see those shrubs and the tree together. I used to have hydrangea paniculata in our garden in Paris, and it thrived there ... my lace hydrangea here in Ballater is not happy. May have to try moving it.
@jamibann I suppose Ballater is a little less moderate in terms of temperature than Paris but I'd encourage moving a hydrangea after the success with this one. Big hole, lots of watering and wait till the frost is past. 😁
Thank you for your lovely comments. It has been a lovely cosy day.
