Cromarty Crossing

A little further round the coast we came to Nigg where there is a little ferry across to Cromarty. I was a teacher at the little school there before Allan and I got married and it was a very happy time in my life!
Mum used to take me here on Monday mornings and I got across in the little ferry which took the construction workers to /from Nigg where the oil platforms were built. And on Friday I actually got off early ( when the infants went home) so that I could get the 'back shift' ferry over and meet Mum again at the other side! I stayed with a lovely old lady during the week.
We were just saying today we knew the road very well!!!
What a gorgeous view you have here.

That does sound like a great place to begin your teaching career and certainly a novel way to get to and from work. On days like this, how beautiful it must have been but I'm sure it was often quite frightening in rough weather! Lovely photos!
