Today we bumped into old friends from the East Coast of South Africa where we used to live about 15 years ago. They have just finished building a holiday home not all that far from us, in an enviable location that we could never afford, so for the first time in more than a week the lens cap came off my camera again as I sat and had a glass of aloe juice on the verandah of their newly completed home
:-) You were brave to change all that :-) I've found myself writing too many negative things recently and have had to reconsider before hitting submit.
@cottiac thanks.Yes I have to get a grip on myself and change my mindset. I really need to get back into finding a new photo to shoot every day as that has been my passion and enjoyment ever since I got my camera 6years ago
@seacreature It's not really my place to tell you this but I have to say that I got my brain in a better gear by reading all the challenges on here, picking those I liked the sound of and then trying to contribute to as many as I can - that keeps me looking for different things and also keeps me shooting daily - often things that aren't for those challenges at all! Also the Get Pushed Challenge has really helped me too. I really do recommend it to you - DON'T be scared :-) The group are all really kind :-)
What a gorgeous gorgeous view! I know it must be hard to stay motivated when you're dealing with such raw grief. But you had your camera with you, that's a positive.
@cottiac Thanks CottiaC. I'm not an ace member (yet) so I don't have access to any challenges etc. Maybe one day I might consider ace membership if our exchange rate improves, or if I start getting more work in again, but for now I am content with the free membership and all the wonderful friendships I have made here.
@beckyk365 Thanks Becky. I think I am dealing with the grief - now it is just stress and busyness. I'm chairperson of the body corporate of the apartment block where we have our holiday flat and there have been a few crises lately with burst geysers and water pipes. I dealt with the late night emergencies and called in plumbers etc. but some residents are quite demanding and I've become good at learning to say No.
@narayani Yes it was totally serendipitous to meet up with old friends. I've never had aloe juice before as it didn't sound appealing, but it was actually very refreshing and very yummy. Next time I'm in Checkers I'll buy a bottle. I think it is quite healthy?
