Still Day 2 of our road trip. We have crossed the Swartberg Mountains, and are now coming down the other side of the Outeniqua Mountain Range into George. Here we can see all the geography lessons about weather and rainfall in action. Just an hour earlier the Oudtshoorn side of this mountain range was dry and sunny with blue skies. That is Karoo desert in the rain shadow side of the mountains. George, on the rainy side of the mountains is green and lush, with rain every week. I have never done this route before and just love it. What an amazing trip this has been for someone like me in love with mountains.
Splendidly desolate...wonderful! I'm a vertigo sufferer and don't enjoy heights. However, seeing them like this, whilst not at all the same thing, does enable me to be objective and enjoy the view. Thank you.
@beckyk365 Yes it is a contrast indeed. @narayani I have frequently thought I could easily move to George and live there. Every time we go on holiday there I just love it and look forward to our next visit. Other than the rain which is a welcome change, for me there is everything I love, close by. The mountains, forests, ocean ....
@bf2016 It sure is amazing scenery. I just love it. @777margo Thanks Margo. I will fill empty days with more from there @pamdavis2015 Thank you so much @s4sayer Thanks Margo. Love your description - you certainly have a wonderful way with words.
