Went down to the harbour today to hand out the prints I had done. What excitement there was. Just wished I could have shot the spontaneous grins that broke out across their faces when they saw I had returned with photos of them. And then the ones who hadn't wanted photos taken previously said they wished they had allowed me to shoot them too, so I agreed to shoot them. I am not so happy with these shots though as the guys insisted on getting cleaned up in a bucket of water, and they are just "too posed". But I will print these photos anyway, and return with them next week. By now I reckon these workers are starting to know and trust me, and I should have developed a relationship where they might allow me to just shoot away whilst they are having a tea break (without scrubbing their faces and taking off the scruffy scarves etc. that give them the character I am looking for)
