Today was a public holiday in South Africa, called Youth Day. And here in this part of the Western Cape in spite of being almost at the winter solstice, and bitterly cold nights, we were blessed with warm sunshine for much of the day, so the youth could be youth out on the river, or fishing from jetties, or even picnicking on jetties.
To be quite honest, although the sunshine was warm, I am not young enough any longer to feel the day was warm enough to be out on the water like this, and was quite happy to be walking on land wearing a jersey and a sleeveless windcheater over it!
