My step son and his wife (and twin sons) are building a house at this housing estate in Paarl about 160km inland from where I live so I went to visit for the day. They live in Johannesburg at the moment but may relocate to the Western Cape early next year
@anniesue It sure is beautiful on that estate .... way too expensive for me, but I am glad for my step son and family that they can afford it. Their piece of land cost more than the entire value of my house and land, and the house they are building will be appropriate for that price.
@narayani Yes they will be very much closer to me, but realistically I still may not see all that much of them actually because they are a different generation with loads of friends their own age who have "semi-grated" from Johanesburg to the Western Cape. At the moment they live in Johannesburg which is a 2 hour flight from Cape Town (plus a 2 hour drive from my home to the airport). Where they are building now is a 2 hour drive away from where I live. Geographically it is like a triangle with Cape Town, Paarl (where they will be), and me at each point of the triangle 2 hours drive (160km) apart.
