Easter Island figure by seanoneill

Easter Island figure

We were given this as a Christmas Present many years ago by my sister in law Victoria. It sits proudly in our garden.

Now, I know I am never going to get to Easter Island for real, so this was taken in the garden.

It is a kind of homage to Michael Kenna, one of my favourite photographers, who published 44 images of Easter Island in a book. Take a look at his work if you get a moment.

Wow, would love to go to Easter Island, but I may live vicariously in your backyard...

@bobfoto Haha, I fear my backyard would not be exciting enough for you Jason.

With the big open sky as the background, this looks huge....How big is it?

Fantastic - very Kenna - never heard of these statues before - do you think they inspired Anthony Gormley?

@onie about 3ft Leonie. I perched it on our outdoor Jenga blocks and lay on the grass to shoot it!

Beautiful shot! It seems huge, but for some reason I think that the real size is moderate?

I like the low pov. It makes it look very imposing.
