It may be questionable why I post B+W landscapes when there is so much colour in the original shot. It is partly because I aim to fill a full year of B+W in my main album, and partly because I enjoy the challenge of transforming a colour shot into B+W.
This shot has been processed in Efex Pro by adding a +2 graduated filter to daken the sky above the tree.
A little bit about the area the shot is taken in will feature in the colour version.
@amandal Thanks Amanda, unfortunately it was taken a day before the theme started, but hopefully the weather will improve enough for me later in the week. It is awful today and tomorrow!!
I can't decide which I like better... aspects of each. I like how you have darkened this sky in this one, really brings the attention to the tree and field. Nice job, my friend!
@taffy Why thank you Taffy, what a compliment from someone who has 10% of this weeks T20 ;) If you ever want to know how I have done a shot or processed it, feel free to ask.
This time I like your B&W version better. It is very dramatic, and the colors in the other one are just a bit too saturated for my conservative taste. They are both very nice, though.
Will watch your black and white and learn. You do it so well. What is Efex Pro? I am going to go back and review your album. The clouds are so beautiful and the tree is the star.
@pam1 Thanks Pam. Silver Efex Pro is a plug in that I use in photoshop for processing B+W photos. It is incredibly good, and I would say worth buying more than the next lens on your list...Thank you for such lovely comments, I always am appreciative of anything positive about my photos.
