The other Paris ~ 3 by seanoneill

The other Paris ~ 3

This man was sat shivering and hungry inches away from a window selling Christmas food gifts.

The thing that struck me about this photograph is that the man seems lost in thought. When you are sat alone, all day, waiting for the odd bit of spare change to be thrown your way, what do you do? You lose yourself in your thoughts I guess. Are these people actually better off than some of us? They don't have the stresses that modern life throws at families, they just have keeping warm and finding money for food. Another Orwell quote from Down and Out in Paris and London.

"Within certain limits, it is actually true that the less money you have, the less you worry.”

I can see what he mean't but I would not swap my comfortable life and the stresses and strains it brings, for a life on the streets. Not ever.

Sean, I like that you show real life, not just the pretty life. Again a sad shot, but this is a part of life that we need to see, consider and pray for, and see how much we are blessed, too. Thanks!

I think that living without the assurance that the basic requirements for life are readily obtainable is probably very stressful indeed, both psychologically and physiologically if you are cold, hungry and unable to sleep soundly on a regular basis.
Some very thought-provoking images, Sean. Nicely done.

Nor would I! Interesting candid though, Sean.

So sad - just enough money to put a roof over his head would be nice.
