Grand Union Canal, Loughborough ~ 1

A peaceful scene on the Grand Union Canal in Loughborough this morning.

Rebecca and I had to pop into town early, but enjoyed an hour or so wander along the canal watching the narrow boats and the fishermen.

Fave ...let me be the first of many Sean....love the fishermen & the precision of this!

Fantastic shot.

Wow those fishing rods almost reach to the other side of the canal. What a super shot Sean and I agree it could have been taken many years ago - timeless. Fav.

@tracie8266 Hi Tracie, I started this off in Photoshop, then used color Efex Pro's detail extractor and then converted to B+W in Silver Efex Pro. It sounds complicated, but it took less than 5 minutes, probably closer to 2 minutes!

Great capture - typical Sunday morning along a canal.
April 27th, 2014
I love this shot. Everyone has staked out their spot. The processing and lines are terrific. Fav. I must ask tho - What are they hoping to catch? The rods are so long they almost look difficult to manage. Not a scene I'm familiar with.
April 28th, 2014
I'm interested too, what they are doing exactly? Very intriguing shot.

I think my husband and I did this Grand Union Canal in a long barge that belonged to his aunty and uncle several years ago.. I remember guys fishing but not with poles this big across the whole canal. What a super capture!! fav for sure!
April 28th, 2014
Oh gosh -- this is just amazing!! I thought it might be detail extractor -- it's sooo effective! I love the lines and shadows across the canal and the composition. Fav instantly.
April 28th, 2014
Epic shot, Sean! Bravo and fav. You got all the fishermen to line up perfectly!
April 28th, 2014
What in the world? I've seen a lot of fishing methods, but never anything like this. The whole scene is remarkable, but I would probably like it better with more traditional processing. Just my personal bias, of course.
April 28th, 2014
Splendid rythm in black and white.

A wonderful capture, Sean! It's quite hilarious though, with the perfectly regimented spacings and the oversized poles!
April 29th, 2014
Gorgeous lines and composition in the b/w. Why are they using such long rods? Fav
