This tiny bird might be a Sparrow according to my handy bird book or not. Anyway, it remained still long enough for me to take this shot.
Update on WA's wild fires: "As of Saturday, about 4,400 firefighters and support staff were combating 12 large fires in Washington, facing heat, wind, exhaustion and the perils of a sudden, fiery ambush as daily routine." Three fire fighters lost their lives and a fourth fire fighter is in critical condition. I pray these wild fires can be contained soon. These fires are in eastern WA. I live in western WA, Seattle.
beautiful photo of such a tiny bird. What a tragedy the fires are. So sad that brave firefighters have lost their lives. We have been warned we face a dangerous summer this year too.
Interesting to see how it blends into its surroundings. Interesting capture.
The fires of course are on national news and it's quite horrific to read and hear about them. My husband graduated from WSU and we have friends in Spokane. All so unsettling as it doesn't seem that conditions are going to improve re dryness and heat.
Adorable little guy - such wonderful crispness to his details. Remembered you were from Washington and was wondering how close - glad to hear you're on the other side of the state. What a horrible tragedy this is - with such awful conditions out there for any relief.
That certainly looks like a sparrow to me - female, as the males have a black bib from what I recall. We used to get lots of them in my childhood garden in NW England, but they've become a lot scarcer nowadays.
A beautiful capture of this little sparrow Gloria ! such great textures and all of a tonal hues -Fav . So sad re the firemen my prayers are for them and their families !
What a pretty looking bird. Excellent capture. It is sad to hear about the loss of lives fighting the wildfires. I hope they can be contained soon, too. Rain would be a blessing.
lovely shot - Fav I'm so sorry to hear about the fires and it is such a loss that firemen are losing their lives. I hope and pray it all ends for them soon
Lovely shot. So sad about the fires. Our bushfire season is yet to start and we have had a few controlled burns to prepare for the summer. We have even had a couple of bushfires this winter too, Don't usually get that. I suspect they were deliberately lit.
Fantastic capture. These are hard to get a good shot of. That is terrible that some firefighters have lost their lives. I hope the weather changes soon to give some relief to the crews.
We had a very mild summer last year and avoided any major fires. I think it may be a different story this year.
Gorgeous detail in this lovely little bird. There has been a severs decline in House Sparrows in the UK. So sad about the fire fighters, over here a lot of the fire fighters for the bush fires are volunteers. We are having burn offs in our area at the moment as Spring is almost here, ready for the bush fire season. Do you have burn off's there?
Sweet little bird - lovely shot. I'm glad to hear the fires aren't near you. Such an awful thing for the firefighter's, their families and the animals. Nice to see so many states and countries are sending people to help. It's very scary.
