A wolf moon shot taken about 20 minutes ago at 7 am, Seattle time. There was a ring of color around the moon. I looked the ring color up and here's the explanation:
"Rings around the Moon are caused when moonlight passes through thin clouds of ice crystals high in Earth's atmosphere. As moonlight passes through the ice crystals, it is bent in a way similar to light passing through a lens. The shape of the ice crystals causes the moonlight to be focused into a ring."
TYF the explanation of Rings around the Moon. Fascinating shot. I'll now start looking for such. However, our climate doesn't enjoy/endure the same extremes of temperatures so am not holding my breath...yet;-).
