Moon by seattlite

Moon

A wolf moon shot taken about 20 minutes ago at 7 am, Seattle time. There was a ring of color around the moon. I looked the ring color up and here's the explanation:
"Rings around the Moon are caused when moonlight passes through thin clouds of ice crystals high in Earth's atmosphere. As moonlight passes through the ice crystals, it is bent in a way similar to light passing through a lens. The shape of the ice crystals causes the moonlight to be focused into a ring."
Nice catch! Looks even more dramatic on black. Interesting explanation.

TYF the explanation of Rings around the Moon. Fascinating shot. I'll now start looking for such. However, our climate doesn't enjoy/endure the same extremes of temperatures so am not holding my breath...yet;-).
