Surf Scoter

A surf scoter is a sea duck. This surf scoter was swimming and diving in Puget Sound. These ducks are so fast that this is the best shot (cropped) I could get at quite a distance. The shape and color of the surf scoter's bill intrigued me enough to be patient in getting this shot. Have a great weekend.

Great shot- I'd never heard of nor seen this duck before. The "eye" on the beak must be something to ward off predators- it's really crazy looking!
