Watermelon Slices with Gap edited

I edited this picture with an online photo editor called FotoFlexer. I used the command "Autofix" and this is what it gave me. I don't know if it helped much. BTW, this is my other entry for the fruit challenge.
The watermelon is red , red and you got seeds, juice on the plate and green there too but the focus is not clear, so it doesn't pop out! What kind of camera do you have, does it have an image screen ? I suggest taking a look into it before snapping the picture, and checking the focus. So that your idea leaps off the page. Edits don't fix the clarity of a picture out of focus. I have seen the picture you took of your sister it was super clear , so play around and find out how this camera works close up

My camera does have an image screen. It even lets me preview my pictures after I've taken them. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do about the focus of this picture though. I have played around with the settings before and there isn't a whole lot dealing with focus.

Sometimes the pic on the screen will be clear, but when I put into my computer it's not focused. Best thing I can do is take several pics and hope one is clear. Keep practicing. Sometimes blurry is cool.

Did you take just one shot or take a series of shots from various angles? I can see that you took this shot at a different angle than in the other fruits shot. Good trying! I sense that your focus is a bit better than in the other fruit shot. I can see the pool of juice, the seeds and the variation of red shades in the flesh. My next idea on how to improve your focus may seem radical. I did this more than once and it helped me. Here is my suggestion: go back to longer range shots, like the one you did with the tree leaves last week (good focus on that). Practice your focus with this distance for several days/weeks. Then, go back to shooting closer up with new knowledge of what various perspectives and angles do with the focus on longer range subjects. This really helped me. What do you think?

I'm not sure if all cameras work this way- but if you hold down the button half way and give it a second to focus then without releasing the button- press it the rest of the way down. Also, as someone else commented on your grapefruit picture- you could be too close for it to focus.
And, just curious what camera do you have? I wonder why it's not showing in your picture details.

Are you taking your pictures with your computer?

@lbaker No. I'm not taking pictures with my computer. I use an Aiptek DZO V3T camcorder that was my dad's but he lets me use it. It takes pictures and video FYI but it tends to take better videos than pictures.

That might be part of the problems you are having then.

I wonder what would happen if you took a video and then froze one of the frames for a photo. I am not certain if you can do this or not. I wondered what type of camera you had. Now, we know. However, I am no closer to knowing how to advise you. Perhaps your camcorder is not set up to focus on nearby objects. I know I could not get very close at all to flowers with my old camera. That is why I purchased my Olympus camera last December.

@daisy Hey that's a good idea! I think I have tried that on other photos in the past. I think my camera has it so that you can choose a setting for taking closeups or images from far away
