This is a shot of two bridges that span the Geneva Swamp, also called Conneaut Swamp. There is a story that when the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania put out bids to build these bridges as part of Interstate 79 which connects West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York, that the company that got the bid ended up going bankrupt. When construction began heavy equipment was brought in to dredge the swamp so concrete footers could be poured but, a number of pieces of equipment disappeared when left overnight. It was thought that they sunk into the muddy bottom. After a number of similar setbacks the company went bankrupt. Another company came in, did some tests then designed and built these two 3,600 foot long floating bridges. The two bridges are currently undergoing extensive rehabilitation. http://www.meadvilletribune.com/news/local_news/penndot-planning-to-rehab-interstate-bridges-over-conneaut-swamp/article_a53b7a1b-990b-55a6-93be-a05b017b0390.html
