It's is fun to watch how the different birds eat sunflower seeds. Cardinals will pick up the seed in their beaks and shell them with their beak. Blue Jays, Chickadees, Titmice and some others will hold them with their feet and crack the shells by pecking them to get to the seeds. Many woodpeckers will grab a seed and take it to a crack in a tree, place the seed in the crack and peck the shell to free the seed.
