passed by the roundhouse this afternoon after a morning of running around for some mundane grocery shopping. not a lot of people downtown, in fact, i went to the boardwalk and ate a beaver tail pastry for a snack ( @northy beaver tail has its own shop now!!) and there was virtually no line up, and i was able to even grab a table.
i love looking at the old trains at the roundhouse museum. i would have loved to ride in a steam engine. i even think the sound of distant trains is quite romantic.
this is for the current song title challenge where the host requests for entries reflecting the 1940's era. i was born after the 1940's but my mother used to sing to us songs from that decade when we were still young children. so i just might make this week a 1940's songs week!
chatanooga choo choo was a three-week #1 hit for Glenn Miller in 1941. the music was composed by Harry Warren and the lyrics written by Mack Gordon. the song was featured in the movie 'Sun Valley Serenade". i found an 'extended version' in youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2aj0zhXlLA for your listening and watching pleasure.
I love the sound of trains too. I miss hearing the one that used to run by our last home in NJ. Good shot! I like this song title challenge and should try to come up with something!
