this looks quite eerie. when the full moon hides behind dark clouds that's when the he-wolf comes out, non? definitely not, but that's when i get pissed off.
the morning started well. at about 4 in the morning, i woke up with the moonlight in my face. i thought i was going to turn into a she-wolf. instead, i thought i'd take a couple of photos. now last night when the moon was in a different position in terms of visibilty from my apartment, i was watching all the airplanes and their routes just about miss the moon. so when i woke up in the morning, i realized that the setting position would actually be in the route of the planes coming in and out of the international airport which is roughly 27 kilometres from here. i checked the weather report and it's supposed to be a clear sky. at six, the moon started its descent. camera at the ready, i studied exactly where the moon should be for those planes to pass in front of it. i thought i was losing my mind from this obsession, or my eyes are really bad that it seemed the moon wasn't round anymore. after a few shots, that's when i realized that there was a heavy bank of clouds on the horizon, and from then on the moon came in and out of the heavy cloud curtain. after this, it just disappeared altogether, and that's when the planes just kept flying past that exact spot.
so, never mind that. i packed my camera and tripod and went to work dressed like a stevedore because i planned to go to the islands or the beaches to shoot the rising moon over the lake. what do you know, once again heavy gray clouds in the horizon over the lake at 5:30 the expected moonrise. the moon showed up only at 6:15 when it had risen far above those heavy clouds.
and that's why this is all you get to see. it's beautiful, non? NOT!
obviously, my camera's clock does not automatically change to the normal time. do i care? nope!
This is what I encountered also. I waited for a long time to get the least amount of cloud. I like this though, the color and the placement of the cloud make it interesting.
I think it works great with the clouds- ahhh such is life. You look for the perfect moon shot and it's just not in the stars. Unless you photoshop them in.
