collective art

i passed by this impressive mural last saturday when i went to michaels to get a gun (a glue gun 😜). the building is a bowling alley and i'm pretty sure there are other shops and businesses in there. as you can see, even the barriers erected between the bicycle lane and the street proper are also painted with art.

many years ago, in the campaign against graffitis, the city decided to pay street artists to paint murals on building walls. although the program seems to be working, there are still some badass people who would vandalize murals like this by painting graffiti over top of the murals. one person told reporters that he just didn't want to conform and didn't want the city's money.
