This is a Japanese Acer which we bought many years ago in a supermarket as a very small, spindly, sad looking plant and paid very little for it. It's grown into the most stunning shrub. It doesn't all change colour at the same time. The green bit at the bottom of the picture is part of the same plant but hasn't begun to change colour yet.
I liked the way the sun was catching it.
