I've been friends with John for over 40 years. We were part of a group who became friends when our children were very small and the children all grew up together. Some of us moved away but we all remained friends and still saw each other from time to time. John was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at the end of May and died 3 months later, the first one to leave us. It was good to be with all the others at the funeral, I think we supported each other and especially Lydia, John's lovely wife.
