Poppies are a bit of a mystery. If you sprinkle some seed on the ground you don't know what you're going to get. Two years ago My friend Sandra who lives over the road gave me some poppy seeds which she'd harvested from her garden. We had a wonderful display of several different poppies, none of which were like the flowers the seeds came from. We kept some of those seeds and sprinkled them in another part of the garden. Here are some of the results. I don't remember there were any like this last year.
So beautiful - I used to have this poppy in the garden but one year it came to flower as a deep red/pink ! This ear only a few self-setters - but I have kept some seeds from last year !
@gijsje@gardencat@beryl They’re like big pom-poms aren’t they? I wouldn’t have known they were poppies if I hadn’t seen the leaves and the buds. I just love the way they’re so random, you just don’t know what you’re going to get. Thank you for commenting 😊
At first glance I thought they were peonies.
