A Rose from my Neighbour by susiemc

A Rose from my Neighbour

My neighbour has a beautiful climing rose in her garden. We were chatting over the fence and I said how beautiful it was. She picked a flower for me so that I could enjoy the amazing fragrance. We discovered that as children we both used to soak rose petals in water to make perfume.
Beautiful.

a beautiful rose. Its such a shame that most roses you buy in a florist have no scent at all. My favourite and probably the only one I know by name is Cecile Brunner. I had it in my wedding bouquet and my grandpa grew it in his garden. Have you read For the Love of a Rose, a true story of two rose growing families in France.

Beautiful! I remember my sister and me did the same: soak rose petals in water to make perfume.

Such a pretty rose, I also use to make perfume with rose petals by boiling them, soaking them and then straining them!

Beautiful rose. My granddaughter in NZ made some rose water during our last visit. I was amazed...it didn't smell bad at all, much better than the stuff I used to make 150 years ago!
