I had to admire this chap's commitment to his art, braving the arctic conditions on the Thames riverbank to work on his painting.
I used to do quite a lots of sketching and painting myself at one time, but since I have been self employed, I just don't seem to have the time anymore. Which is probably why I have become quite so keen on photography over the last 3 years. It seems to work as a form of shorthand for painting for me and is a great art form in it's own right.
I hope to get back to some serious painting and drawing again some day...... That may well have wait until I'm old and retired the way things are going.
@sgtpepper I have plans in place Alf. I have a really good pension from my high flying days with Sony Music which kicks in when I'm 60. So Should I live that long. I'll be OK. :)
I love this capture. The artwork and artist are so clear. I like that you caught him in a position that looks like he is contemplating his next brushstroke.
This is a great shot. Love the focus on the actual painting against the blue of the subject he is painting. I agree, photography for me replaces the drawing and painting I no longer have the time for.
great shot and DoF
rather than shy and retiring
way too cold to think about doing that
