Roman Wedding

I mentioned before that there is a tradition before getting married to go around town and take various photos of the couple together. Since actual weddings don't really have a service, and are more about the wedding party at the restaurant, for many brides the wearing of the wedding dress is just for taking pictures.

I also mentioned before about one specific popular spot for taking these wedding photos. The Taipei water treatment museum, which has a facade of an old Roman building. Shown above is a picture of a couple having their wedding photos taken. Unfortunately from this angle I wasn't able to get the front of the building. But I took this picture on a monday and most government run museums are closed on mondays.

Seeing that it was closed, but the photo crew was allowed in, got me thinking about the business that photo locations can make. Granted I'm sure that when the japanese built this building decades ago, they didn't think about people taking wedding pictures there in the future. But it has me thinking if some places have been built with the idea of being a popular place for people to take wedding photos, thus making money off of letting people shoot there. Might seem absurd, but with these photo shoots costing anywhere from 3,000 to 10,000 dollars, i wouldn't put it past some places for trying to get some of that money.

That's a lot of money for pictures of a guy who you can tell is unhappy with spending so much money, and having to be dragged around town to take photos and change into different outfits. But I guess that's how you know if you've got a good guy. By how good they try to fake it in the pictures.
