How My Year Begins

As much as I enjoy wearing flip-flops nearly year round, the "winter" time here gets cool and windy enough that you eventually need something that covers your feet. but on top of this with all the rain and the lack of good drainage, you need a good thick sole to protect you from all the puddles.

My answer to this conundrum is Crocs. Yep I always think they are kind of dumb, but they are quite nice for wearing in the rain. They also allow the wearing of socks (socks with sandals...what have i become) for those extra chilly days.

But as you can see my right one has a hole in it. which means the water seeps in and soaks my socks. This is all part of being a student though. It gives you time to study but you have to make financial sacrifices in other areas. So my year starts with me carrying around a bunch of socks in my bag for when the one i'm wearing gets soaked.

I'm starting off the year with a hole in one shoe, and we shall see how I end the year. Although i'd gladly walk around barefoot if the trade off is that i become extremely proficient in chinese.
