Bigger Is Not Always Better

When I was a kid my go to movie theatre candy was Mike And Ike. I'm embarrassed by this as it's pretty terrible candy. Thankfully I ate too many while watching Double Impact. That was a big moment for me as seeing that movie made me both no longer like silly action movies, and no longer like that candy.

Instead I graduated to Raisinets, but around that time I generally stopped going to see movies all together, so i never really had it much. Fast forward to coming to Taiwan, and here they have yoghurt covered raisins. They are quite good, but only made by one company. That company has a few stores around the city, but not many, so every time I'd passed by one, I'd usually go and buy some.

Fast forward again to a few years later when most of those stores closed and years went by without me every having those yoghurt covered raisins. That is until recently their store opened up near me and I decided to go give them a try. Unfortunately now they are "jumbo" size in that they use much larger raisins. This actually ruins it as the yoghurt to raisin equation is thrown off and you just have too much raisin.

I'm guessing the real reason they have this is because Taiwan raisins are generally the large size, meaning that it's cheaper to use those. Smartly they did their best to try and market this as a good thing rather than a bad thing, but us connoisseurs know what the real taste should be.

Yep that's me. Able to tell the quality of yoghurt covered raisins, but not able to learn Chinese properly. My parents are so proud.
