Walking around the city it's not uncommon to see retail spaces that just act as mini warehouses. In fact quite a few shops will rent two retail spaces near each other. One is for the actual store, while the other is just for storing all their goods.
The one in the picture is a space just for storing ghost money. you may recall that ghost money is special money that you burn on specific days to give homage to your ancestors or to pacify ghosts and spirits. It makes sense that it would be stored like this, as it's only really sold two times a year. I believe I mentioned before how shops which sell ghost money make 100% of their money on about six days a year. That's either great or horrible business savvy, I haven't decided which.
I must admit that I feel a bit uncomfortable when I walk past a place like this though. Somehow it just doesn't seem to make sense to store boxes of paper which are designed to be as flammable as possible, in an area that has no ventilation and gets extremely hot. Granted I know that logically it isn't just going to spontaneously combust, no matter how hot it gets in there. But it still seems like they are flirting with disaster.
