The Great Danish Hunt

First things first, there basically is not such things as danishes in Taiwan. Hotels don't have them, and while costco occasionally has them, theirs are so dry, that one friend ate one and then died of dehydration.

A few years back, a Taiwanese megamart that is a bit of a trek from my house, had some, but only on rare days. So i would sometimes walk over there only to be saddened most days. Eventually they just stopped having them all together.

Years later I found them at Carrefour, which is a french megamart. It was only at one specific Carrefour though, the one that caters specifically to foreigners. Every time I was up in that area, I would get some. Alas, that didn't last long, as they eventually stopped having them as well.

Recently a once popular bakery that has been loosing it's popularity, has started to change it's bread offerings. They now include this danishlike bread. On first taste it was great, but on second try it just doesn't stack up to the real thing.

Meaning I have to wait for them to stop selling them and then years later I will find a new place that sells danish. I can't wait!
