Now That's Savings!

Just wanted to give all of you a heads up for if you ever come to Taiwan and do some shopping. Special discount prices are backwards here. If you go to a store and it says “sale 85%” than it means that you are paying 85% of the original price. So basically meaning that it’s 15% off. An example of this being today’s photo.

Also sometimes in American when something is “two for a five dollars” you can buy just one for the special price of $2.50. Well that doesn’t work here, if you get just one, than it’s for the original price. I think people have been complaining about this though, so now they word the sale different to be something like “buy one at original price, get a second one for the special price of ____.”

So just some tips when dealing with sales in Taiwan. Most importantly don’t forget that there is no such thing as pricing parody. Something at one store, could be 50% more expensive or 50% cheaper at a store down the street. In Taiwan shopping really is a lot of exercise.
