The Simple Pleasures

In over eight years in Taiwan, I have never taken my shoes off and walked on the grass. There are a few reasons for this. 1. People like to throw their trash on the grass. 2. People don’t pick up their dogs’ poop. 3. The grass here is very course and spread apart.

But not a day goes by that I don’t walk past a park and just day dream about being back in the states and being able to walk through the backyard barefoot with the cool soft grass caressing my every step. It’s truly a joy and a clear example of not appreciating something until it’s gone.

Well the other day I decided that it was time to just say to heck with it and take my shoes off and walk in the grass. It didn’t feel very good, but it served as a good reminder to make sure and take time to appreciate the little things, cause they are not always guaranteed.
