Probably the only thing I've missed these past few years about not having cable, is no longer being able to watch the Japanese channels. In the videogame world the phrase "it's very japanese" is used to describe japanese videogames that are really out there and crazy. usually this is a good thing as it's a level of ridiculousness that is just very appealing and fun. So for the Japanese channels i can only say "they are very japanese."
They have a wide variety of fun and silly games and shows that if they catch you at the right time, you will definitely enjoy for a bit. It can be something as simple as having two ugly guys walk around the city, stopping to ask women to choose which one they think is more handsome. Or it can be the childlike fun of having people play tag in a large shopping mall after hours.
Here in Taiwan, many people enjoy the Japanese talk shows, where interesting people come on to display some sort of talent. At the moment the most popular of these people is a Japanese man who claims to be the blow job giver in the world, thanks in part to his "super move." The Japanese show had him on to prove his claim.
To do this they had one Japanese porno actor, who says he can receive oral sex for forever and not orgasm. They then had a very attractive Japanese model do it for a very long time and the guy never climaxed. They then had the Japanese guy who claims to be the best come out and try. The whole time you can see them doing this as only a small curtain was covering the waist area, with everything above and below able to be seen. He did it for quite awhile and nothing happened, but then the man said he would do his "super move" which involves some vacuum sucking action. Then a few seconds after doing his super move, the porno actor.....uh...released his love.
As I said this guy is super famous in Taiwan right now, with many different Taiwanse of all ages telling me this story. Not only that, but the super move guy has a very expensive bar in Japan, and when Taiwanese are in Japan they will often go to this bar. It's not just gay men either. For some reason he is very popular with straight Taiwanese men, and I know a few who went to his bar several nights in a row trying to meet him and get his autograph. Finally on their last visit they did meet him, but i don't know if they would say fortunately or unfortunately for them, they didn't get to experience his super move.
Anyway, I've been wanting to tell more stories about things that are quite popular in Taiwan right now, but usually they are things that are difficult to get a picture of. I was thinking that if I couldn't find any suitable pictures, i would just draw something. Thankfully though this past weekend was the big art show in Taiwan with galleries and artists from around the world. It allowed me to snap some pics which kind of match the things I want to talk about.
