I tried again with photographing the stars. This time I had a target in mind. I took ten 15-second exposures. I intended to align and combine them to look like a 2.5 minute exposure but I was having trouble with that. I settled on this single image which turned out well with some post processing adjustments to contrast.
That's two legs of Pegasus in the lower right and a slightly truncated Cassiopeia at the top. If I zoom in to the right spot I can see a faint smudge that is the Andromeda galaxy. I'll see if I can show that in the comments.
OK, showing the zoom in comments is going to be more trouble than it is worth. Incidentally, I was not seeing an aurora. The large swaths of color are passing clouds.
