Hissing Beetle (June Beetle)

Last night a few of these were hanging out on my door, when I went out to take a photo today, they were gone except for this dead one. So I took the opportunity to take a few photos.

They are harmless and "hiss" be rubbing their caprice together to ward off predators.

@taffy @elatedpixie they are teddy bears that hiss/squeak when you hold them, but not knowing that I can see the the intimidation factor.

@jgpittenger @koalagardens @lynnz well it helps when they have tossed off their mortal coils, but they are really still at night as well. I have no idea what took this one out.
